A tile calculator tells you exactly how many tiles you need so you don't run short mid-job or over-buy. The method is simple: work out the area to cover (room width × length), divide by the area of one tile, then add a waste allowance for cuts, breakages and future repairs. This tool also groups the tiles into full boxes, since tiles are sold by the box.
Add 10% for a standard straight layout, 15% for diagonal or patterned layouts, and a little more for small or awkward rooms with many cut edges. Keeping a few spare tiles from the same batch is wise — dye lots vary, so a later-bought replacement may not match.
