Free metal weight calculator

This metal weight calculator works out how much a length of bar, sheet or pipe weighs from three things: the cross-section area, the length, and the material density. Weight = area × length × density. A round bar uses area π(d/2)², a square bar uses side², a flat/sheet uses width × thickness, and a pipe subtracts the hollow bore. Densities for steel, stainless, aluminium, brass and copper are built in.

Why it matters

Metal is priced and shipped by weight, so knowing it up front lets you budget, plan transport and check invoices. It also helps confirm load limits for shelving, brackets and structures. Enter your dimensions in millimetres and the length in metres for an instant estimate.
