Free VAT calculator — add and extract VAT

A VAT calculator answers two everyday questions for anyone who sells or buys: how much VAT to add to a net price, and how much VAT is already inside a gross price. To add VAT, multiply the net amount by 1 + rate/100 — at 20% that is net × 1.20. To remove VAT (extract it from a total), divide the gross by 1 + rate/100 — at 20% that is gross ÷ 1.20. This tool shows the net, the VAT amount and the gross together, at any rate you type.

Common VAT rates

Standard VAT is 20% in the UK, 23% in Poland and Ireland, 19% in Germany, 21% in the Netherlands and Spain, with reduced rates like 5–7% on some goods. Type any rate to match your country. This is also a general sales-tax calculator — just enter your local rate.

How do I add VAT?
Multiply the net price by (1 + rate/100). At 20%, gross = net × 1.20.
How do I extract VAT from a gross price?
Divide the gross by (1 + rate/100). At 20%, net = gross ÷ 1.20; VAT = gross − net.
